What you need to know about taking a practice test with Flying Colors.

Taking practice exams under simulated testing conditions can give students the best indication of how they will score on test day and give them excellent opportunities to address common issues that arise while testing, e.g., fatigue, loss of concentration, distractibility and the like.

Here’s how testing at Flying Colors works.

WHERE & WHEN

  • On the day of the practice test, students will take the practice ACT or SAT exam from home. By logging into a Zoom session through which we provide live proctoring. Please ensure your student has downloaded the Zoom app prior to the test date. ACT test takers will use a paper test. SAT test takers will test on their laptop, tablet, or PC.
  • All registered students will receive Zoom login information on the Tuesday before the exam. If your student has not received login information, please contact us immediately at [email protected].
  • On the day of the exam, students are required to log into Zoom by 8:40am Central Time. Testing will begin at 9:00am CT sharp.

 

TEST MATERIALS

  • New students taking a first ACT exam with us will be emailed a practice test and a bubble form on the Tuesday before the exam for printing at home. If printing at home is not convenient, please email [email protected], and our practice test manager can print a set of materials and have available for pickup at our Edina office (5666 Lincoln Drive, Suite 275, Edina 55436). Please ensure your student has printed the materials prior to the test.
  • New students taking a first SAT exam with us will receive information to access a digital SAT exam on the Tuesday prior to the exam date.
  • Students already working with us will have received a set of materials including a set of exams and bubble forms. Any test can be used for practice testing. Please let us know if you cannot locate these items by emailing [email protected], and our practice test manager will be happy to assist you.

 

AFTER THE TEST

  • After completing the test, students should make a copy of their bubble form and mail the original form to us for scoring. The address is Flying Colors Prep, 5666 Lincoln Drive, Suite 275, Edina, MN 55436.  Please send the bubble form soon after the exam so that we can score the test and return results to you. We typically return results within a day or two of receipt.
  • SAT students can receive their scores immediately after testing by clicking on the View Results button on screen at the conclusion of the test.

 

TIMING & ACCOMMODATIONS

  • ACT practice tests start at 9:00am sharp and are done by 12:05pm.  Students with extra time have until 1:40pm.
  • SAT practice exams also start at 9:00am and are done by 11:30am.  Students with extra time have until 12:30pm.
